My sister (from Sue)

Created by Nick 2 years ago

A little sister who did not appreciate being treated like a living, breathing baby doll! And no, I did not " kick you out of bed and make you sleep on the floor. " I made you a very nice nest of blankets on the floor and lay in bed leaning over to hold your hand until you went back to sleep. I'd never shared a bed with anyone before who could wriggle and kick in her sleep like you.
For years, schooling and countries separated us for some time but the bond we forged as little girls just got stronger. Holidays, living with you when I was working in the UK, all great times in my life. Memories of picnics where we showed the Brits how South African girls do it... cold chicken, salads,  baguettes, cheese and grapes with a little wine to wash it down really beats bags of sandwiches and flasks of tea!!!!

An emotional trip to France to find our Granddads war grave was a highlight. Cape town, Pretoria, the Drakensberg with some of your moms ashes, the cruise to Mozambique Islands and back... in retrospect I don't think the sea was that rough  I think our long walks to visit all the pubs from one end of the ship to the other may have been the reason we were slightly unsteady on our feet !!!!
So many, too many to mention.... tomato or olives in the salad, earl grey or builders tea.,

Thank you for being my very special sister, not by blood but by love for each other and our wonderful Dad who made us the strong women we became. Independent, fierce and with loving hearts for all.
In my heart and memories for ever I love you G.
